Recently — April 2020

Hi everyone!

I didn’t get around to posting this until over a week after April was actually over, but . . . shhhh. 😉

April was a fun month. It’s my birthday month, and I also had Spring break during the last week. It’s a bit hard to come back to reality, though. Only four more weeks of school, but it will feel like an eternity!

READING

In April I read eight books, which is a really good amount for me. It helped that I re-read The Chronicles of Narnia and they are short and easy to read. 😉

The Fountains of Silence by Ruta Sepetys — 5/5 stars

The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis – 5/5 stars

Prince Caspian by C.S. Lewis – 5/5 stars

The Voyage of the Dawn Treader by C.S. Lewis – 5/5 stars

The Silver Chair by C.S. Lewis – 5/5 stars

The Horse and His Boy by C.S. Lewis – 5/5 stars

The Magician’s Nephew by C.S. Lewis – 4/5 stars

The Last Battle by C.S. Lewis – 5/5 stars

LISTENING

A few of my favorite songs this month have been Level of Concern by Twenty One Pilots, …Lost by Andy Mineo, and Relient K released a Live album this month as well, so that’s been fun to listen to.

WATCHING

This month, I finished both Star Trek: TNG and Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries, two TV shows I really enjoyed. I did recaps with my thoughts on both of them, so I’ve included links if you’re interested.

MAKING

I didn’t do as much baking and cooking this month. My mom has been doing a lot more of it which is a nice break for me. I did make cranberry bars, but I didn’t get any pictures, sadly. I also made German spice cookies, which were delicious!! I used a bell cookie cutter for them. They were more Christmasy cookies, but I thought why not? 🙂

My sister also made lemonade on a particularly warm day. Yum!

DOING

As I said before, April is my birthday month. My mom made tuna casserole, which I’ve been having as my birthday dinner for a long time. We finished off dinner with some delicious strawberry shortcake — the shortcake was homeade and it was probably the best I’ve ever had. It was a great birthday, even though I couldn’t go out and celebrate with my friends.

Easter was also this month! We had a lovely Easter dinner, with scalloped potatoes, ham, green beans, minted carrots, and an orange-flavored cake for dessert.

One day it was super nice out, with a high of 72 degrees (!!!) so my sister and I took a picnic lunch and walked down to the beach near where we live. We spent about an hour and a half just eating and relaxing in the sun. It was a lot of fun!

GOALS LAST MONTH

  • Re-read the Narnia series — Completed! I thoroughly enjoyed my third re-read of this wonderful series.
  • Keep on keeping on with Lent — I did it! Yay! I completed Lent and didn’t cheat as far as social media usage, and I read my Bible almost every day. 🙂

GOALS THIS MONTH

  • Try making my own chai or matcha drink — I’ve seen this around a lot on Instagram recently. I just need to buy the ingredients, but I really want to try this!
  • Do something!!! — This is a very vague goal, I know. 😂 Lockdown is ending soon and when stores are open again, I want to go do SOMETHING! I don’t care what. Restaurant, shopping, hanging out with friends, or anything social I will be happy with. 😉
  • Clean out my closet — I’ve been putting this off for a long time . . . hopefully during May I can get to cleaning it out and hopefully making some more room for objects that are currently cluttering up the rest of my room. I’d really like to make my room feel more open and breezy and I think more storage space will help with that.

There we have it! A wrap-up of my April! How was your month? Did you do anything fun for Easter (if you celebrate it)? Let me know in the comments! 😊

  1. Happy belated birthday. I’m sorry that you had to celebrate your special day in lockdown but , it looks like you still had a blast ( that strawberry shortcake looks delicious)! Ooh, I love that you read the entire Narnia series. I’ve only read The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe but , I’m thinking of reading the entire series. Here’s to a good May 💕😂
