Summertime Playlist

Hi everyone!

Sorry I missed posting last week. It’s been awhile since I’ve missed one, but I have been so busy these past couple of weeks! I finally found the time to sit down and write a post just recently.

It’s summertime — a season of ice cream, trips to the beach, and movie nights with friends. I thought it would be a great time to share my summer playlist! This is a list of my go-to songs during the hot, sunny days of summer. 🙂

These songs are all clean. I mostly add songs with lighter subjects matters and fun, upbeat tunes.

Bookshelf Tour — #2

Hello everybody!

In my first bookshelf tour I showed off my display-type shelf on a wall in my bedroom. In this post, I’m going to be showing off a shelf which is definitely more functional than the first one. I keep most of my mysteries and quite a few classics on this shelf. I’m excited to show off some of my vintage book collections!

My Top 5 Favorite Books of All Time

Hey everyone!

A lot of readers say that they can’t choose under 10 favorite books, but I have a list of ones which are just a cut above the rest for me, and which pretty much define the types of books I gravitate to and enjoy reading.

I thought it would be fun to do a post with a list of my top 5 favorite books of all time as of June 2020. (It’s definitely subject to change as I read more!) I’ll give a brief description of what each book is about and then discuss why I love it so much. My absolute favorite book will be at the number one spot.

(I only included fiction in this post, but Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis is my favorite nonfiction book. 🙂 )

Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries Review

Hi everyone!

After I finished Star Trek: TNG, I needed something new to watch during quarantine. I had already watched the pilot of Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries a couple of years ago, but never continued. I decided to give it another try. I’m very glad I did!

The show follows the adventures of the Honorable Miss Phryne Fisher, a wealthy woman living in Melbourne during the late 1920’s. She’s certainly not a “typical” woman for that time period. She loves to speed in her new motorcar, marriage doesn’t interest her in the least, and she runs her own detective business. Helping her investigate her cases are her companion, Dot, Detective Inspector Jack Robinson, and Constable Hugh Collins, along with some other regularly-appearing characters.

There were a lot of things I loved about this show, but also a few things I disliked. I’ll be discussing them in this post!

Star Trek: The Next Generation Recap

Hi everyone!

Although Star Trek might not necessarily be of interest to most of my readers, I just recently finished up all seven seasons of The Next Generation, its most popular and arguably best show of the franchise. I have been blogging for years and have always done a Star Trek recap on whatever show I have finished (TOS and VOY so far), so I thought I’d continue the tradition here. 🙂

I’ll start with my top 5 favorite episodes, top 5 worst episodes, a character ranking, and finally some rambly thoughts on the show. Let’s get started! (Be warned: this will be a long post. I’m a shameless Trekkie and I have a LOT of thoughts. 😂)

My Top 10 Favorite Music Artists/Bands

Hi everybody!

Music. I listen to it a lot; I used to almost constantly. And one thing about me — when I find a band or singer I love . . . I LOVE them. When I find a new band, you can be positive I’ll listen to their music on replay for a few weeks, then listen consistently for years afterward. 😛

I’m also quite picky about my music. With my Christian music, the lyrics need to be unique and interesting OR the singer needs to be really passionate about what he’s singing about. Preferably both. With my non-Christian music, the songs just need to be bops. I’m less picky about non-Christian. 😛 Most of these bands/singers don’t swear, either, in case you’re concerned about that.

So, I thought I’d compile a list of all my favorite bands or singers, ending with my very favorite at the number one spot. Here we go!

Bookshelf Tour (#1)

Hi everybody!

I absolutely LOVE books — not only reading them, but collecting them. They’re one of my major weaknesses. I’ll already have 3 copies of one book and buy another one because it’s pretty, or vintage, or I just found it for a good deal at a thrift store. This is probably why I own hundreds and hundreds of them . . . I regret nothing. 😂

I have four different bookshelves throughout my house which hold all of my books, so I thought it would be fun to give you guys a look at some of them, how I organize my shelves, and what I have in my collection! I have too many to show all of their covers, but I’ll share some pictures of particularly cool volumes.

The first one I’ll be doing a post about it one hanging on a wall of my bedroom. This is what catches your attention when you first walk into the room, so I have mostly collectors’ volumes of books and ones that have pretty spines. 😉

My Top 5 Reads of 2019

Hello everyone!

It’s a little past the New Year by now, and we’re already looking ahead to 2020, but I thought it would be fun to take some time to look at my favorite books that I read in 2019. I like to do this every year, as a way to reflect on what reads have impacted me the most.

This year I didn’t read as much quantity-wise as I usually do, but I did read a lot of good books. I have started to stop pressuring myself to finish something I’m not enjoying, and only read things I like or have a desire to finish. I think this new outlook on reading will definitely carry on into the next decade!
